Carolina Herrera Good Girl is built on jasmine and tuberose over tonka bean and cocoa. Dark Tuberose is our take on that profile, with tuberose, jasmine and cacao, in a pheromone-infused body butter at $25 a jar.

Which Good Girl is it?

Carolina Herrera launched Good Girl in 2016, in a stiletto-shaped bottle. The house credits Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner as the perfumers, and describes the original Eau de Parfum as an amber floral with jasmine, tuberose and tonka bean.

Good Girl also comes in other versions, including Good Girl Légère and Good Girl Suprême. They are different formulas, so a note list belongs to the Good Girl family and not to one bottle. Dark Tuberose follows the profile of the original, and we would not claim it matches any single version.

What happens when a white floral goes dark?

Tuberose is a heavy, creamy white flower. Jasmine lifts it, and cacao pulls it toward the dark, sweet side of the profile. Dark Tuberose uses all three.

The formula is our own, in a shea and cocoa butter base, so it is inspired by Good Girl and not identical to any version of it. In a butter the tuberose stays close to the skin and builds as it warms, which is why a small amount goes a long way.

When should you wear it?

In winter and at night. In our view Dark Tuberose is the loudest of our six, one of the two louder scents with Crimson Amber, so it belongs at a late dinner, a night out, or a cold day under a coat. We would not wear the two together, because two loud scents compete.

We would not pick it for a small office or a warm afternoon. Sea Sage is the better daytime partner, and a two-jar order covers both.

How do you wear it?

Apply one scoop to damp skin after a shower, and start small: collarbone and wrists. Most skin holds it for 12+ hours, longest when damp.

If you own a bottle of Good Girl, wear the butter first and spray over it. We have no controlled test showing the spray lasts longer, so treat it as an experiment.

What does it cost next to a bottle?

A bottle of Good Girl costs about $325. A jar of Dark Tuberose is $25, about $300 less. You can also buy 2 for $43.38 or 3 for $58.08, and every order ships wrapped in a piece of a real coffee sack, with a card that says where it came from. If the scent is not right for you, there is a free scent swap within 14 days.

Quick answers

  • Is Dark Tuberose identical to Good Girl? No. It follows the profile in our own formula and base.
  • Is Dark Tuberose strong? Yes. In our view it is the loudest of our six, so start with one small scoop.
  • Who should skip it? Anyone who wants a quiet scent for a small office. Velvet Lavender or Paris Blush is the better pick.
  • Can you wear it in summer? You can in the evening, but we think it is at its best in cold weather.

Before you order

Does the pheromone actually do anything?

Yes. Obsessed is made to help with attraction. The pheromone blend sits in the butter with the scent, right on your skin, so it works where it counts: the hug, the slow dance, leaning in at dinner. Wear it on your neck, collarbone and wrists. If it is not for you, the 30-day money-back guarantee covers it.

How close is it to the designer scent it is inspired by?

Similar in profile, not identical. We take the profile of the original as our starting point and make our own formula in a shea and cocoa butter base. If it is not what you expected, there is a free scent swap within 14 days.

Will it leave my skin greasy?

No. It absorbs in about a minute and leaves no shine. Use a small amount, rub it in, and give it that minute before you get dressed.

How long does the scent last?

On most skin, 12+ hours, longest on damp skin right after a shower. It sits close to the skin, so it is made for up close rather than for filling a room.
